Soundtrack of her life Make
a CD of songs that mom loves and that bring back memories of your lives
together. Record your own personal anecdotes & sentiments between
songs. Think about the songs she sang when putting you to bed at night or
when you woke up from a bad dream or just the tunes you remember her
humming around the house or the one she did that crazy dance to. Record
The Kids! Let
them sing a song, give mom a message of love or interview them! Ask
them questions about their brothers and sisters, what family holidays mean
to them. Ask them how they see the world in general…and, of course, what
mom means to them. Create
A Family Time Capsule
Find
mom's treasured stash of baby handprints, birth announcements, baby teeth,
special pictures, special family audio & video recordings, etc and put
it in a time capsule for her! If you want to have access to these videos,
recordings or pictures, just make copies of them before you add them to
your time capsule. You might even want to consider adding a special
recording that talks about the different items you’re including and why
you felt those specific things were important. Think of it as kind of a
“guided tour.” This is important because mom may not be the only
person to “tour” the time capsule and this is a great way to keep your
legacy going throughout the generations.
Before
you purchase your time capsule container, think preservation! There
are time capsule containers that go a long way towards preservation.
Remember, these memories are irreplaceable, so protect against time and
unforseen disasters like fires or floods.
Audio/Video Birth
Announcements
Instead
of sending the traditional picture and written information, mom can create
a short audio or video presentation that includes baby's first picture
with mom personally announcing the birth. These could be sent out on

Journal
Give
the expectant mom a recorder to "journal" her thoughts on a daily
basis throughout her pregnancy. This way, the sentiment in her voice is
captured and she won’t get writer’s cramp! Include enough media to
last her through the pregnancy. Or, for the sake of convenience, we can
record her over the phone.
Maybe
she'd prefer to simply prepare a message for her unborn child and record
it near the end of her pregnancy. She can talk about all of the things
she's experienced so far. This could include strange cravings, memories of
her baby shower, how she picked the name, what made her choose the theme
of the nursery or the toys she bought and what she's looking forward to
about being a mommy. She can record it at home or give her a Gift Certificate
to record in our studio. We can even edit and add music.
More
seasoned moms can use this instead
of journaling a scrapbook or baby book by hand with the finished CD placed
inside the book. Think of it, the story behind each picture shared in
mom’s voice!
If
she'd prefer something from the digital age, she can take her recorded
memories, the pictures and music and have a DVD slideshow produced. Gift
